It’s a journey that takes us down different roads that are just like our selves and lives.
Being honest with your fears, whether they are real or imagined, like “Am I good enough?” is often the first step.
And Will people find out I don’t know anything? and yet, to let the thought that you do have useful information to share with others help you get past these crippling thoughts.
Some of us are sure of ourselves the whole time, and some of us have questions. What matters is how it makes us grow.
To grow, that’s where our paths and the paths of our students meet. Learning then turns into an adventure that we all share.
For some of us, our kids may have the same courage to ask for help and crippling fear of not being good enough that we had (or still have).
Any way you look at it, we are the ones our students look to for direction, and they expect us to help them with both their schoolwork and their feelings.
In life, you have to keep going even when things look bad. You have to be brave and humble enough to say, “I don’t understand. Please teach me.”
In the same way, it can take the same amount of courage to ask for help and to decide to become a teacher.
Being a teacher is just the next step we take when we think we can help other people get past the same problems we had.
Still, there is a point in life where you never know, which is a beautiful idea in and of itself.
We will always be both the teacher and the student in our lives.
Saying that you are only one or the other is either cocky or low-esteeming of yourself.
Everyone knows some things and still needs to learn more. Being aware of this and wanting to improve yourself are what matter.
